A four-hour meeting between the federal government and organised labour to discuss the hike in fuel price, on Monday night, ended in deadlock.

The government tried to put a spin on it, though. According to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, who spoke to newsmen after the meeting on Tuesday morning, both side of the divide had “a fruitful discussion and will continue from where we stopped.”

The meeting, which ended by 12am Tuesday morning, is expected to continue at 3pm on Tuesday.

The SGF, however, refused to comment on the outcome of the meeting.

The Federal Government also went into another round of close door meetins with the NLC faction led by Joe Ajaero at 12:15am, after its earlier meeting with the Ayuba Wabba-led Congress ended by 12:00am.

Those present at the meeting include the President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba, NLC General Secretary, Peter Ozo-Esun; NUPENG president, Igwe Achese; PENGASSAN President, Olabode Johnson; TUC President, Bobboi Kaigama; Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige; Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang; and the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.
