Renowned Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has been invited to minister at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
The Akwa Ibom-born cleric shared the exciting news on his Instagram page, posting a flyer for the event alongside the caption, “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025.”
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the U.S. Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast is a faith-based, non-political event held every four years before the inauguration of a new administration. The gathering centers on prayer and worship to provide spiritual support for the U.S. government and presidency.
This year’s breakfast will be hosted at the prestigious Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom by Reverend Merrie Turner. The event will feature notable speakers, including Dr. Alveda King and Pastor Mario Bramnick, as part of the lead-up to the swearing-in ceremony for Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance.
Nathaniel Bassey, celebrated for his soul-stirring worship music and as the initiator of the Hallelujah Challenge—a global online worship movement—has achieved international acclaim with hits like “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.” His unique blend of gospel, jazz, hymns, and medleys has earned him widespread recognition as one of Nigeria’s most prominent gospel ministers.
In 2024, Bassey’s impact was further acknowledged when the Mayor of Albany, New York, declared October 6 as “Pastor Nathaniel Bassey Day.”
