The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a temporary ban on all songs by Burna Boy from being played by its members.
The decision was made on Wednesday following reports of an alleged physical altercation involving the singer and DJ Tunez.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday night at Obi’s House, a popular weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos, where DJ Tunez was allegedly attacked by Burna Boy and members of his entourage.
A viral video circulating online shows the DJ being physically assaulted, reportedly after playing songs by Wizkid instead of Burna Boy’s tracks during the event.
The footage, which captured the DJ being beaten and kicked while on the ground, sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms.
In response, the Nigerian DJ Association stated that it has removed Burna Boy’s music from its playlists pending the outcome of an internal investigation into the incident.
“Burna Boy Music is temporarily out of any of our DJs playlist till further notice.
“Our team will carry out a proper investigation on the incident that happened to one of our own, DJ Tunez.
“We urge the DJs in Nigeria as a whole to be vigilant and be respectful to any individual male or female artist in their various events.”
