The Banker’s Committee has announced that banks nationwide will begin to capture the fingerprints of customers who come to deposit money from Friday.
This was disclosed by the Group Managing Director, Access Bank Plc, Mr. Herbert Wigwe, after the meeting of the group.
He said this system where all bank customers details will be registered including finger prints would help the fight against fraud and money laundering, and also enhance the protection of bank customers.
Banks in collaboration with CBN hve been working on this system for a long time.
The Director, Corporate Communications Department, CBN, Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor said Nigeria runs on cash; there is no identity., so there is need to identify who is who.
