Read the story of his latest shady exploits as reported by the BEDFORDSHIRE on Sunday:
A manager of a traffic warden firm hatched a plan to split the profits of a fraudulently bought iPhone paid for using a fake credit card.
Adebowale Onadeko, 41, was rumbled while trying make a purchase of the device from the Orange mobile shop in Silver Street in Bedford. The crook tried to buy the phone under a 24-month-contract worth £1,100 with a fake card.
Bedford Magistrates’ Court heard on Tuesday how Onadeko, of London, was sat in a pub with a friend when it was suggested how he could get money.
Onadeko, who works for parking enforcement company NSL, claimed he thought his friend was going to give him money. But the next day they decided that they would purchase a brand-new iPhone 4s outside of London using a false credit card and then split the money made on it.
The court was told that on October 14 last year Onadeko made attempts to buy the mobile and contract in the Orange store in Hitchin but left when he suspected he had been caught out.
Onadeko then tried his luck in Bedford but as the manager was making the transaction he saw a warning email, alerted the police and stalled the fraudster as officers arrived. When arrested he claimed he was in the town ‘window shopping’.
Magistrates ordered Onadeko to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and told him to pay £85 in court costs.
Editor’s Note: A check by our source in the UK says he has been relieved of his appointment at the NSL after being found guilty.
