Head coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has been reportedly offered a new contract which will see him earn N7 million a month.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to finalise the new deal next week.

A top official in the NFF, who confirmed the pay increase, said that Keshi was willing to continue as Nigeria’s coach.

“We have had meetings with Keshi and the good news is that he is willing to continue as coach of the Super Eagles.

“He is only concerned that most of the fringe benefits in his contract were not provided and demands better treatment from the Federation.

“I think the first step was success and we will build on it because the (2015 Africa Cup of Nations) qualifiers are not far away,” he said.

Keshi originally requested for N10million per month after his initial contract of a N5 million per month ran out after the World Cup in Brazil.

In early September, the Super Eagles will begin their build up to defend of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy they won in South Africa last year.

They have been drawn in a qualifying group that has South Africa, Sudan and either Congo or Rwanda.
