Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reiterated his country’s firm opposition to Iran’s nuclear ambitions, pledging to take swift and decisive action to stop any attempt by Tehran to revive its nuclear program.
In a national address on Tuesday, Netanyahu stressed that Israel would not tolerate any development that could lead to Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, even in the wake of a recent ceasefire between the two nations following almost two weeks of conflict.
“Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” Netanyahu said. “We have already thwarted Iran’s nuclear project, and if anyone in Iran tries to rebuild it, we will act with the same determination and intensity to foil such attempt.”
His remarks came shortly after Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation head, Mohammad Eslami, announced on state television that Tehran has already taken precautions to maintain its nuclear operations, despite recent airstrikes by the U.S. and Israel targeting critical infrastructure.
This exchange follows 12 days of intense conflict between the two countries, involving missile attacks, aerial bombardments, and escalating geopolitical tensions. Although a ceasefire was agreed upon on Monday, both sides have since accused one another of violating the truce within hours of its implementation.
