Akpofure spent a lot of time with his mother, who worked as a warden in prisons while he was growing up. He felt it was important to give back to society while he was in Warri, and so he visited the Nigerian Correctional service during his visit. In a photo posted on his Instagram account, he posed in front of the correctional facility along with the warden and staff, while boxes of toiletries and provisions for the prisoners were placed in front of them.
Akpofure expressed that he had a soft spot for some of the prisoners, particularly after hearing their stories of how life had dealt them a bad hand. He noted that aiding in the rehabilitation of prisoners was one of his passions and revealed that ensuring humane conditions for prisoners was the main reason he founded his Amakazat Foundation.
He further added, “One of the core missions of @amakazat_ foundation, founded by me, is to ensure that there is hope even behind bars, prisons and penitentiaries in Nigeria continue to serve the purpose of being correctional facilities. In a bid to achieve that, we have decided to make sure that these prisoners live under humane conditions while being confined until they are reintegrated back into society.”
Akpofure’s post received a wave of support from friends and fans in the comment section, commending him for his good deed. While some expressed their concerns about the allocation of the provisions and whether the inmates would receive them, Akpofure quickly addressed their worries, stating that he personally shared the provisions with the prisoners after entering the prison. He reassured his followers in the comment section, saying, “For those saying the inmates won’t get it, I entered the prison & I shared it myself to the prisoners. Thanks for your concern.”
