Billionaire politician and lawyer Ned Nwoko has finally addressed the viral allegations claiming he married Nollywood star Regina Daniels when she was just 17 years old.
In a detailed post on X, Nwoko dismissed the reports as false, malicious, and misleading, insisting that Regina was 21 years old at the time they met not 17, as widely circulated.
“It has come to my attention that false claims are being circulated by Regina, suggesting that I married her when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue,” he said.
According to him, during their first meeting, Regina presented her INEC voter’s card showing her birth date as October 10, 1998, which he still keeps as proof.
He emphasized that their marriage took place six years ago, meaning Regina is 27 years old today, not 23 or 24 as some reports have claimed.
Nwoko also referenced a BBC interview with Regina’s mother shortly after their marriage, saying it supported his version of events.
However, he went further to urge the public to treat Regina’s current claims “with caution,” alleging that she has been battling drug addiction and had abandoned rehabilitation.
“Until these facts are verified, the public should approach all her claims with discernment, especially given her current mental condition, having started and abandoned her rehabilitation from illegal drug addiction.”
The statement follows activist Omoyele Sowore’s accusation that Nwoko married Regina as a minor and introduced her to drugs to control her, a claim that has fueled widespread debate across social media.
While some fans defended Nwoko’s explanation, others criticized him for publicly mentioning Regina’s alleged addiction, intensifying the ongoing controversy surrounding their marriage.
