Senator Ned Nwoko has responded to a circulating video featuring a young woman, which many online users falsely identified as his “new wife.” The rumours emerged in the midst of his alleged marital issues with actress Regina Daniels.
In a public statement, the Delta North senator debunked the claims, describing them as false, malicious, and deliberately misleading.
He clarified that the lady in question had visited him as part of the Peace Ambassadors Initiative, led by Ambassador Dr. Adejo Sule, and that the photos and videos from the visit were simply part of normal protocol during courtesy engagements.
Nwoko criticized those spreading the false reports, accusing them of twisting harmless interactions to gain social media attention and mislead the public.
In his words:
“It is mischievous and malicious for anyone to exploit such gestures to fabricate false narratives. Let me state clearly that I do not have any form of personal or private connection with her.”
He further warned individuals and blogs circulating the rumour to retract and desist, stressing that such misinformation could lead to legal action under the Cybercrime Act (2015).
Nwoko’s statement follows a wave of online reactions, with many Nigerians humorously noting that “even taking a selfie with Ned can spark marriage rumours.”
The senator has now firmly clarified the situation, urging the public not to believe every viral story and emphasizing the dangers of misinformation on social media.
