Experts from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have arrived in Ondo State to tackle the ongoing Lassa fever outbreak.
Dr. Olubunmi Olopha, the leader of the team, revealed this during a meeting with officials of the state government.
She stated that the NCDC has deployed a team to offer critical support in addressing the outbreak.
Dr. Olopha noted that fewer than 90 confirmed cases have been identified out of approximately 200 suspected cases since the outbreak began. This collaboration between the NCDC and the state government aims to tackle the disease head-on.
She also urged healthcare providers to avoid delays in referring suspected cases to designated facilities within the state, emphasizing that prompt action is crucial to reducing fatalities linked to Lassa fever.
