Everyone seems to be going natural these days; eating organic food, transitioning from permed to natural hair, and even using natural products in their beauty routine. I’m not talking mineral products, I mean raw, out of the earth ingredients. I’m not complaining anyway, I like the change; it means that people are now paying more attention to their health and well-being. Natural products have always been around, and now that people are increasingly aware of what they put in and on them, let me give you the lowdown on natural beauty products that actually work.
1. Dry Skin Treatment. Here is a guide to making a baby oil dry skin face mayonnaise mask. Mix 2 tbsps of mayonnaise with 1 tbsp of baby oil. Apply this mask to your face and neck and leave for 20 minutes. Rinse off with tepid water to reveal shiny, hydrated skin.
2. Revitalizing Hair Treatment. Shiny, healthy hair is every woman’s dream, and I have the elixir for that. Mash the flesh of 1 avocado and mix with 2tbsps of honey. Massage into the hair and leave for 30 minutes. Wash out the mixture and continue with your shampoo routine.
3. Toning Mask. Say bye-bye to wrinkles and loose skin with this lemon mask. Whisk the juice of half a lemon with one egg white. Apply to your face and leave to dry for 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
4. Nail Strengthening Potion. This mix is very useful for ladies who use acrylic nails and French tips a lot. It should be used in between fixes to strengthen the weakened nails. Mix 2 tsps of castor oil, salt and wheat germ oil (you can find this in Goodies Supermarket, Lagos). Place the mixture in a spray bottle and apply to the nails as needed. Leave for 5 minutes and wipe off the excess.
5. Body Scrub. This mixture exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells and resulting in smooth, soft skin. To make, mix 1 cup of coarse sea salt (this can be found in Shoprite) with 1/2 a cup of baby oil. Leave for 24 hours in a tightly sealed jar before use. Use as you would a regular scrub.
These are just 5 of the many natural beauty products around. You can also come up with a mixture and tell us about it in the comments section.
