President Muhammadu Buhari met with the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, at the presidential villa in Abuja.
The apex bank governor met with the President behind closed doors for the third time since the country’s cash crisis erupted, according to The Nation.
However, Emefiele did not speak to journalists following his meeting with Buhari.
The meeting’s purpose is unknown, but it is believed to be unrelated to the country’s current naira scarcity problem.
The country has been tense since the apex bank unveiled the new naira notes in November 2022 and announced that the old N200, N500, and N1000 notes would cease to be legal tender on January 31, 2023.
