Kingsley Okonkwo, better known as Kcee, is a legendary musician and businessman. He recently admitted that his gospel CD, “Cultural Praise,” which he published in collaboration with the Okwesili Eze Group, earned him more money than any other record he had ever produced in his whole music career.
In a recent interview with Lagos’ Cool FM, Kcee claimed that when he toed the line of gospel music, people made fun of him and said it would be the end of his career. Surprisingly, though, the gospel record ended up being a huge hit.

When I released the Christian record, a lot of people were shocked, Kcee recalled.
‘It’s over, he is actually going close to his village. Now he’s taking the music to the village.’
“That was horrible. When I heard that I was like, okay, let’s see how that works. And it didn’t happen. I made more money from it [the gospel album]; more than any ever before in my whole career.”
