MODEL AMBER Rose has revealed that some of her family chose to miss her wedding to rapper Wiz Khalifa because of their prejudice against black people.
The mother-of-one, who loves to show off her womanly curves, shared personal stories of ‘shadism’ in an interview for the Oprah Winfrey Network programme, Light Girls.
“With my family, they feel like they’re more superior or better than an African American because we’re Creole and we have culture and that’s something I battle with most of my life,” she explained.
“It’s more of the older people in my family.”
Rose goes on to suggest that some of her family didn’t attend her wedding because she married a black man. And even though they divorced a year later, to this day, that reality still upsets her tremendously.
“It’s such a sensitive subject that it’s hard to explain yourself without sounding mean or bitter or angry, but I am,” she shared.
“I’m angry that my family is like that and they want to pass so bad that they raise my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture.”
The couple, who have a baby son together, filed for divorce last year after claims of infidelity from both sides.
