Social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has fired back at Wizkid’s fanbase with a bold allegation, claiming the music superstar actually owes him money. This new twist adds fuel to the ongoing online clash involving the critic, the singer, and Seun Kuti.

The “Begging” Allegation

The controversy escalated when Wizkid’s supporters, known as Wizkid FC, dug up a 2023 video of the activist. They used the footage to argue that VeryDarkMan’s recent attacks on the singer were borne out of bitterness from a past failed attempt to beg the star for financial assistance.

The Counter-Claim: Intellectual Property

In a now-deleted video response, VeryDarkMan dismissed the narrative that he begged for money. Instead, he insisted that Wizkid is the one in debt for sampling his viral catchphrase, “Don’t Play,“ in the 2022 song “Diamond” off the More Love, Less Ego album.

Trademark Evidence

To substantiate his claim, the critic displayed what appeared to be a trademark application for the phrase, asserting his legal ownership and declaring victory over the fanbase.

He stated:

“Wizkid owes me. My brother, don’t play, it is my line. I trademarked that line. FC is done,”
