Ongoing reports say that Zimababwe President Robert Mugabe has concluded plans to bring his wife, Grace to possibly join his Cabinet.
This is after information emerged Tuesday that he had temporarily un-appointed his Information Minister Jonathan Moyo to free up one of five spots taken up by ministers not directly elected as Members of Parliament(MPs).
Moyo, who won a by-election in Tsholotsho North on June 10, would be reappointed back to Cabinet but now as a directly elected minister.
Mugabe, under the constitution, can only appoint his Cabinet from Members of Parliament. He, however, can appoint non-elected ministers, one of which slots has been vacated by Moyo.
Moyo’s victory appears to have solved a conundrum for Mugabe, who has not appointed a minister for women – a post believed reserved for his wife, who however would require to be able to sit and speak in Parliament.
