A tragic accident occurred around 6:45 a.m., yesterday, when a commercial bus was badly crushed by a train at the Ajayi Farm railway crossing in Ikeja, Lagos, injuring four persons, among them, a pregnant woman.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Enugu bound bus with number plate XE 899 FGG failed to stop at crossing as the Iddo bound train was approaching and subsequently rammed into it.
The impact of the resulting collision flung the vehicle with its four passengers – a pregnant woman and three men – to the front of The Christian Dominion Ministry building at 26 Adegbola Street, Anifowoshe.
The occupants of the car were immediately taken to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital by policemen attached to the Railway Police Command, where the pregnant woman later gave up the ghost.
Sources at the Railway Police Command also confirmed that the accident was as a result of impatience of the commercial bus driver.
