More intrigues have emerged as ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo calls for the cancellation of the 2023 presidential elections scheduled for Saturday, February 25.
According to the Daily Trust newspaper, the former President is seeking to cancel the presidential election on Monday, February 27, because it lacked integrity and validity.
In a statement titled “2023 Nigeria Presidential Election: An Appeal For Caution and Rectification,” he urged INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu to seize the bull by the horns and save Nigeria from disaster.
According to the statement, the ex-President claimed that INEC officials stationed across the country had been compromised, particularly due to hiccups in the transmission of results.
Obasanjo’s letter comes just hours after party agents staged a walkout.
He informed President Muhammadu Buhari of the following:
“Tension is building up and please let all elections that do not pass the credibility and transparency test be cancelled and be brought back with areas where elections were disrupted for next Saturday, March 4, 2023, and BVAS and Server officials be changed.”
