Nigerian singer and rapper, Mo’Cheddah is spilling all the juicy details behind the birth of her hit song “Won be ri”.
The singer, who is now married and has a child, appeared on Teymesan’s podcast. Teymesan had asked Mo what her first hit song was and she responded with “Won be ri”.
Mo’Cheddah then explained how it came to be. She described how, at the age of 16, she had just gotten into university.
Mo’Cheddah finished secondary school in September and was accepted to the University of Lagos the following month.
She was still in school, and her label did not want her to sing because she was still being groomed.
Saucekid, on the other hand, was working on a song that needed a hook. At the time, the singer who was supposed to do the hook was also unavailable. She was also in Unilag and was just as busy as Mo’Cheddah.
They decide to record Mo’Cheddah just so SauceKid has something to record on. Saucekid enjoyed her singing voice in the song. Mo’Cheddah got her first hit song this way.
