Veteran music executive, Michael Collins Ajereh, also known as Don Jazzy, has stated that he feels he is just at the beginning of his career, similar to an emerging singer.
The 41-year-old head of Mavin Records shared this viewpoint while addressing a fan’s proposal for a concert featuring all legendary figures.
The fan, known as @beingzora on X platform, suggested bringing together experienced entertainers such as Don Jazzy, P-Square, Wande Coal, and others for a live performance. “Ughhh someone needs to plan a OG Naija music festival with P-Square, Dbanj, Wande Coal, Duncan Mighty, Don Jazzy (Old Mavins), Ice Prince!!! That would go so crazyyyy!” they wrote.
In response, the Mavin Records head explained that he still considers himself to be in the early stages of his career and should not be included as a veteran on the suggested list. “I be upcoming o. Stay there,” he wrote.
The post has generated numerous reactions from fans, with many finding the declaration amusing while others insist on his status as a veteran.
It is worth noting that Don Jazzy gained prominence in 2004 after co-founding Mo’ Hits Records with D’banj. From 2011 to 2015, he worked as an in-house producer for Kanye West’s record label, GOOD Music.
After the split of Mo’ Hits, he founded Mavin Records in 2012. In 2024, he sold Mavin Records to Universal Music Group but continued in his role as the chief executive officer (CEO).
