Obi retired and moved to South Korea, far north Asia, to start his life after football. Obi announced that he had been invited to the independence celebrations by Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Ali Mohammed Magashi. Obi, a former Chelsea midfielder, was also invited to the 42nd anniversary of our diplomatic relations with the Republic of Korea. Obi detailed his trip to South Korea in a video posted on his official social media accounts. Obi’s video was accompanied by a message that read, “This has been a very productive visit for me, the people of South Korea have been nothing but good to me, the love is truly overwhelming and I do not take it for granted.”
