When I was in the UK everyone, even the children, said, ‘This is Suarez’ – the whole street. And I always say, ‘I’m not Suarez’
Reds supporters gathered around the unnamed man who was on a visit to the UK thinking he was the Premier League top scorer.
The man said at one point to plead with Liverpool fans to stop trying to touch him.
In an interview with Iraqi TV, he said: “When I was in the UK everyone, even the children, said, ‘This is Suarez’ – the whole street. And I always say, ‘I’m not Suarez.’
“People there are crazy and I have to keep saying ‘I’m not Suarez, please don’t touch me’.”
The Iraqi tourist was visiting Liverpool as he has supported the club for a number of years and managed to meet Reds striker Daniel Sturridge.
However, he failed to manage to meet Uruguayan striker Suarez.
He said: “I’ve met a few players but I’m sorry not to have met Suarez himself.”
The Suarez lookalike added he was a big fan of the Liverpool fans who have been “loyal” to the club since the Eighties.
He was interviewed by Iraqi TV while watching his team thrash Arsenal 5-1 at Anfield over the weekend.
