American rapper Meek Mill has expressed interest in purchasing TikTok amid discussions of a potential ban on the app in the United States.
In April 2024, President Joe Biden signed a law requiring TikTok’s Chinese parent company to either sell the platform or shut it down by January 19, 2025.
In December, TikTok challenged the legislation in the US Supreme Court, following a meeting between its CEO, Shou Zi Chew, and President-elect Donald Trump. During a press conference, Trump mentioned his “soft spot” for TikTok and hinted that his administration might reassess the app’s future, including the possibility of a ban.
While ByteDance awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling on the matter, Meek Mill has stepped forward with an offer to acquire the platform.
“Sell TikTok to me,” the rapper posted on X, adding, “If they cut off TikTok, we’re moving to X and Fanbase.”
