The legal representative of May Edochie, Emeka Ugwuonye, claims that Yul Edochie, her husband and actor, has ceased to provide for their children. In a video, Ugwuonye stated that Yul has consistently advised their children to seek financial assistance from their mother, arguing that she earns more than he does.
The attorney expressed these views while condemning those who draw comparisons between Yul and May’s marriage and that of Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels. He explained that Nwoko ensured his marriages were conducted under Customary law, which permits multiple marriages, in contrast to Sharia law, which limits a Muslim man to four wives. Nwoko, seeking additional wives, selected the law that allowed him to marry an unlimited number.
Ugwuonye additionally claimed that Judy is engaging in a “campaign of calumny and smear” against May, defined as an untrue statement made about someone to diminish other people’s respect and admiration for them.
He said partly, “Something else you people do not understand but you will understand today. Ned is taking care of all is children, paying their school fees, feeding them. Yul is not doing that. Yul is not supporting his children as we speak, at all. Indeed, Yul told his daughter that their mother is making more money than him now. Can you imagine? So you are going into polygamy and you can’t take care of the children? So please don’t compare the two.”
