Gospel singer Marvin Sapp has come under fire online after a video surfaced showing him asking church members to contribute $40,000.
The footage also captured him instructing ushers to close the church doors, preventing anyone from leaving.
In the video, Sapp expressed confidence that the funds could be raised, noting that thousands of people were present in the auditorium and watching online.
“This is a small seed,” he told the congregation while urging them to donate.
He further challenged attendees, saying, “I’m asking each of you here to give a twenty-dollar seed,” explaining that if 1,000 in-person members and another 1,000 online donated $20 each, they would easily meet the $40,000 goal.
