The President of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly today felt the effect of the invasion of the National Assembly by security agents who wanted to stop House of Representative members from reconvening.
An embarrassed Mark, who rushed to the House of Representatives Chamber to address the situation upon being told, was thoroughly tear gassed along with his colleagues while returning to his office after conferring with the Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal.
David Mark had earlier condemned the invasion, calling it barbaric.
In solidarity, the Senate President suspended pleanry sessions in both houses until tomorrow.
After a brief meeting with principal officers of the National Assembly, Senator Mark said” After due consultation with my colleagues in the both chambers of National Assembly on this ugly development , we have, therefore, agreed that today’s session be suspended forthwith.”
