Mario Balotelli is set to quit AC Milan and make a career to Liverpool
The 24 year-old forward told Sky Sports Italia: “This will be my last day in Milanello [AC Milan’s training complex],” as the Serie A side confirmed talks were underway.
Given the 24-year-old’s history of disciplinary problems on the pitch and bizarre behaviour off it, any deal would represent a serious risk for manager Brendan Rodgers.
The striker’s time at Manchester City came to an end following a training-ground fight with Roberto Mancini. He was sold to Milan for £17m and the Rossoneri would expect a similar sum from Liverpool for a player they have under contract until June 2017.
However, it is believed that Rodgers would prefer a season-long loan deal for a forward who scored 14 Serie A goals in what proved a disastrous season for Milan who failed to qualify for even the Europa League.
