MANCHESTER UNITED transfer target Marco Reus wants to move to Old Trafford according to former team-mate Mario Gotze.

With United desperate for midfield reinforcements the news will be a huge lift to beleaguered boss David Moyes.

Moyes has been scouring Europe looking for the perfect additions and Gotze, who played with Reus at Borussia Dortmund, said his former team-mate wants to make the switch.

Gotze said: “When I was at Borussia, Marco wanted a move to Manchester United. This hasn’t changed.”

Gotze sealed a switch to Borussia’s rivals Bayern last summer and Reus could be the next man to depart Dortmund.

Reus is proven at the highest level and almost inspired Jurgen Klopp’s team to a miraculous comeback against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter finals.

Madrid held a 3-0 lead from the first leg, but a Reus inspired Dortmund roared back to make it 3-2 on aggregate early in the first half of the second leg.

But the Germans missed a host of glitd-edged chances and ended up going out.

It’s eye-catching performances like that which have moved the 24-year-old to the top of Moyes’ shopping list.
