The Navy SEAL who says he shot and killed al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden has been identified as Rob O’Neill.
Rob O’Neill, is a 38-year-old highly-decorated military veteran who retired from the Navy after 16 years.
O’Neill, who grew up in Butte, Montana, was first identified on SOFREP.com, a website that caters to military personnel.
While his father, Tom O’Neill has confirmed that his son shot Osama dead on May 2, 2011 in Abbottabad, Pakistan, his colleagues in the military have ostracized him for speaking out.
O’Neill was deployed on more than a dozen tours of active combat, including in Iraq and Afghanistan, and was decorated 52 times.
