A Chinese beekeeper, She ping, 32, from Chongqing Municipality in China’s south west has attempted to break a world record by covering his body with more than 300,000 bees.
He concealed almost all of his body with 33.1kg of bees, which is estimated to be 331,000 of the creatures, in one hour.
Mr She broke the world record, overtaking the last world record of 26.8 kilograms of bees which was attempted by a Jiangxi province beekeeper Ruan Liangming in 2008.
However, doubts still trail if he actually did break the record, as the Guinness World Records list Vipi Seth from India as the holder of such record, for covering himself with 61.4kg of bees in 2009.
It was calculated that 613,500 bees were on his body at the Indian Agriculture Research Institute in New Delhi.
But Mr She has managed to overtake another Chinese beekeeper’s record at least.
Mr She, a third generation beekeeper, told reporters he did not wash himself for three days to better attract bees.
Pheromones are also commonly used to get bees to cluster on humans.
