A 30-year-old man from Chiredzi died on the spot after he jumped off a moving bus along the Beitbridge-Masvingo Road.
The incident occurred at around 10pm near Bubi village. It is understood that Justin Tsumele was travelling along with other family members on their way to Chiredzi.
They were coming from a shopping trip in South Africa. Along the way, Tsumele reportedly fell asleep and during the process he is suspected to have had a nightmare.
Supposedly upon waking up from a horror dream, the man suddenly jumped out through the window when the bus was near Bubi village. He fell headlong on the tarmac and died. The incident was reported to the police and his body was taken to Beitbridge district hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
The police officer commanding Beitbridge district chief superintendent Lawrence Chinhengo confirmed the incident yesterday. He said investigations were underway. The incident comes a few weeks after a hawker was fatally knocked down by a bus at the same spot while attempting to cross the road.
