The Manchester United legend, has become India’s Premier Futsal League’s second marquee signing, following Portgual ace Deco.
Scholes, who played 718 times for United, will lace up his boots one more time to join the inaugural season of the competition.
The Salford-born midfielder retired in 2013 due to a knee injury – so it will be interesting to see how he fares with the high-paced indoor mode of the game.
The tournament is being run by former Real Madrid megastar Luis Figo, who takes on the role of president.
The Futsal Premier League already made one mega coup earlier this year, as they announced the signing of Falcao.
No, not the United and Chelsea flop, but the Brazilian – full name Alessandro Rosa Vieira – widely renowned as the greatest futsal player on the planet.
The South American superstar, 39, began playing in 1989 and is still going today, having scored a mind-boggling 932 goals in 697 games for his various clubs.
He has also netted 339 goals in just 201 appearances for Brazil.
So, Scholes perhaps won’t be the star name at this tournament, however the 66-capped England international still remains one of the biggest names as India continues it’s march to become one of the biggest sporting powerhouses on the planet.
