Nigeria and Chelsea of England midfielder, John Obi Mikel was randomly picked for doping test by FIFA after the goalless draw against Iran in which he was also voted FIFA Man Of The Match. Mikel who by many was not spectacular in the game against Iran made several faulty passes and could not connect well in good transition between the midfield and attack. According to him, the opening game for the Super Eagles was a disappointment. “Yes I feel highly disappointed with the outcome of the game. It was a disappointing encounter and all of us are disappointed. As our first game we wanted to win and we clearly had the idea of what to do but it became very difficult to create chances; we tried early goals but they never came so we got frustrated. Iran frustrated all our moves and packed 11 men behind the ball. That match was really frustrating.”
He said the next game against Bosnia is really important for Nigeria and the team. “We have to go back and review what we did against Iran because the next game is really important to us. We will at training correct our mistakes and improve on what we may have done well.
Iran before the game knew what they wanted to do and they did it. In our next game against Bosnia we must create chances and be clinical in the opponent’s goal area.
