The incident which happened at 3, Lambe Street, Ago Palace Way, Okota, Lagos degenerated to such a ugly scenario due to  suspicion over the paternity of the baby.

The man, identified as Henry Nnamdi, was alleged to have grabbed Chukwuemeka from his mother and hit him on the floor and the baby died instantly.

What might have led the man to resort to such a cruel act, according to some of his neighbours, is that he might not be the biological father of the baby.

Others said he might have done that out of anger.

His wife was reportedly not spared as well. He allegedly used hot iron and inflicted injuries on her body before taking the boy and hitting him on the floor.

We gathered that on the day the incident happened, Henry had serious quarrel with his wife, which resulted in the dastardly act.

The police at Okota Division were contacted and they arrested Henry for interrogation. They later transferred the matter to SCID.

The police, after investigation, charged him to court.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Bolarinwa ordered that he should be remanded in prison and referred his case to the DPP for advice.
