There was confusion at Sango area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday as two middle-aged men drowned after falling into a well on Sango-Eleyele Road.
Our correspondent learnt that one of the men drowned while attempting to clear the well, while the second died while trying to rescue the former.
An eyewitness, Iya Tawa, said the incident happened at a well in a filling station on the Sango-Eleyele Road.

However, none of the workers at the filling station agreed to speak on the incident.
Tawa noted that the deceased said to be in his early 30s was recruited to clear the well.
She said, “While the people were still thinking of what to do to save the victim, another man, who came to the scene on a motorbike, jumped into the well to rescue the man and he also got drowned.
“Sympathisers, who gathered around the well, were helpless as they could not immediately rescue the two men.”
She said the matter was reported at the Sango Police Division and the state Fire Services Station.
The Director, state Fire Services, Oyekunle Kareem, said he had yet to be briefed on the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Ayodele Lanade, could not respond to our correspondent’s request as he claimed that he was driving.
