A 60-year-old man at Uwheru community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, has committed suicide over his inability to feed and provide for his immediate family.
The victim, Okporo Arigo, was said to have hung himself on a tree and left a note, citing his inability to take care of his ailing wife and children as the reason for his action.
The lifeless body of the victim, whose younger brother is a serving councillor at the Ughelli North legislative arm, was discovered in the bush with the suicide note nearby.
A member of the community executive said: “He (Arigo) claimed to have embarked on the act to put a stop on his inability to take care of his immediate family after his younger brother, who is a serving councillor, abandoned him to his fate.”
