Former Minister of Information and staunch Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member , Labaran Maku will contest the Nasarawa governorship polls on February 28, 2015 as a candidate of the All Progressive Grand Allianace (APGA).
Maku resigned last year as a Minister to contest the PDP gubernatorial primaries, he however lost the election,Yusuf Agabi emerged as the PDP candidate.
The state chairman of the APGA, Chief John Amakor, on Saturday at Manyi Royal Suites, Jos road, Lafia said the party gave the ticket toMaku “after due consideration of his vast wealth of experience and political clout having served in various positions as commissioner, deputy governor and minister of the federal republic since return to democracy in 1999.”
Maku while accepting the ticket accused the PDP and APC-led government in Nasarawa State of working to make sure he did not get APGA’s ticket, saying they went as far as threatening the leadership of the party in the state.
“The struggle to ensure that I did not become candidate of APGA is emanating from the government house in Lafia; there is no place they have not gone; they have threatened APGA leadership in the state,” he said.
