Ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Louis Van Gaal has named his training squad which is a 20 man squad of local based players. The squad consist of players plying their trade only in the Dutch league, the squad also consist of three uncapped players. The players are Twente Enschede striker Luc Castaignos and Feyenoord pair of Terence Kongolo and Jurgen Locadia, they have the opportunity to impress the coach in a three days camp taking place at Hoenderloo.
The camp is the first phase of the different training camp planned by the coach, subsequently foreign based players will be added to the squad at the second phase of the camp starting on the May 11.
A preliminary 30 man squad is to be named after the second training camp ahead of their first friendly match with Ecuador in Amsterdam on May 17. The squad will be visiting Lagos in Portugal for seven days from May 20 and returning to Holland for a friendly with Ghana in Rotterdam on May 31 and with Whales in Amsterdam on June 4. The eventual final 23-man squad is expected to be announce on June 2 by Louis Van Gaal.
