An eye witnesses who spoke with Sunday Newswatch said it was drizzling at about 11pm when lightning struck one Aondowase Uloho and killed him and injured three other persons of the same family at Asukunya.

It was also gathered that at Annune, a number of buildings including that of a district head were destroyed as people scampered for safety at about 10 am.

Sunday Newswatch learnt that those injured were treated in a nearby hospital and discharged at the weekend while members of the family were making arrangements for the burial of the deceased, Uloho.

Information officer of the local government, Bem Agbuku, told our correspondent that the thunder destroyed the office of the district head of Ityoiya in Annune and described it as a natural disaster.

Agbuku said the council chairman had sympathised with the district head and members of the deceased’s family and prayed for the repose of Uloho’s soul.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ezeala, said the command had no report on that matter. It would be recalled that six weeks ago, thunder struck in Gboko and killed a barber and a woman pounding yam.
