Because Ruby Woo creates such a dent in my wallet.
Making your own lipstick is a fun way to save up on money and also gives you a choice in the products you put in your body. We live on a planet that is slowly becoming Eco-friendly. Maybe you’re concerned about the contents of your lipstick; some brands contain lead which is dangerous for the body and the environment. Or maybe, like me, you’re out for adventure. Let’s try out these ways of making lipstick. They are simple, are require minimal ingredients.
Method 1: With Beeswax
Ingredients
1 tsp beeswax pastilles
1 tsp shea butter
1/2 tsp coconut oil or olive oil
Essential oil (optional for fragrance)
Colouring ( for red, 1/8 tsp of beet root powder or red food colouring)
Procedure
1. Boil some water, then turn off the heat.
2. Place all the ingredients except the colouring, in a large metal spoon. Place the spoon over the boiling water, and melt all the wax and butter.
3. Stir the mixture with a toothpick, until it has completely melted.
4. Add the colouring of your choice. Stir thoroughly.
5. Pour the liquid mixture in an empty lipstick or lip balm container.
6. Store in a cool place so that it solidifies.
Method 2: Using Crayons
Ingredients
1/2 a crayon (Crayola is a good brand) in the colour of your choice. You can mix colours to create your desired shade.
1 tsp shea butter
1/2 tsp of coconut oil or olive oil.
Procedure
The procedure is the same as in the first method. The difference between the two methods is that in this one, the colour is provided by the crayon.
It’s fun, easy, and you can make as many different shades as you please. You can watch this You-tube video if you need further help. Have a good week guys.
