Legendary American singer and producer Frankie Beverly has passed away at the age of 77.
The R&B icon, best known as the frontman of the soul and funk band Maze, died on Tuesday, with his family announcing the news on the official Instagram account of Frankie Beverly and Maze on Wednesday.
“Grieving the loss of a loved one is a deeply emotional journey. As we navigate this period of sorrow, reflection, and remembrance, we kindly ask for privacy and understanding, allowing us the space to mourn in our own way,” the family stated.
“This is a time for healing, and we appreciate your respect for our need for solitude as we honor the memory of our beloved Howard Stanley Beverly, known to the world as Frankie Beverly.”
Beverly gained widespread fame with Maze, the band he formed in 1970, known for their soulful and funk-infused music.
