Renowned Nigerian gospel artist Bolaji Olanrewaju, widely known as Big Bolaji, was buried in Ibadan, Oyo State, weeks after passing away on April 19, 2025, following a short illness. He was aged 50.
Funeral ceremonies commenced on Wednesday with a dignified lying-in-state and memorial service held at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre in Ibadan. The event drew a large crowd of family, friends, and fellow gospel artists who came to pay their final respects.
Prominent gospel ministers including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and comedian Woli Agba were present. Each delivered emotional tributes, remembering Big Bolaji as a passionate and impactful servant of God whose music inspired and uplifted many.
A moving tribute video showcasing memorable highlights from his music ministry was shown during the service, eliciting applause and tears from attendees.
Touching footage shared online captured the moment pallbearers carried his elegant white casket, adorned with flowers, into the venue as mourners observed a moment of silence.
Following the service, Big Bolaji was laid to rest at All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan. His wife, family members, and loved ones gathered at the graveside in quiet mourning, offering their final goodbyes to the cherished gospel minister.
