There are fears on Saturday that the health condition of the former governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adesina might have worsened following his sudden discharge from the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan Saturday afternoon.
There are unofficial reports that the former governor may be flown abroad for foreign treatment.
The former governor and the state leader of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria {ACN}, was rushed to the UCH following complications in his health at the late hours of last week Wednesday with the hospital authorities mobilising doctors to his private suite to stabilise his health.
Sources at the hospital on Saturday disclosed that the former governor was moved out of the hospital in company of his son, (Dapo Adesina) a commissioner in the state, and some stern looking policemen around 3.45pm.
Checks by THISDAY indicated that the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who returned from an official trip to Abuja on Friday checked on the ailing party leader on Friday night where discussions to move the former governor for foreign treatment might have been held.
Unconfirmed medical check revealed that Adesina was being managed for diabetes along other ailments that have to do with old age.
The chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the hospital, Dr. Abiodun Otegbayo has initially given the assurance that “he is quite stable and we are hoping that he will recover fully.”
The medic reminded that the former governor “was really bad when he came in, but with the intervention of the medical team and the nurses, his situation is much better now.”
“It is difficult for doctors to say when he would be discharged, unlike when it is a planned intervention. He came in as an emergency. It depends on how he responds and most of the time, old people respond more slowly than young people”.
While expressing optimism that Alhaji Adesina should be out of the hospital in a few weeks time, Otegbayo said it was difficult to determine his exact time of stay in the hospital.
