The Lagos State High Court has granted bail to popular media figure and influencer, Scott Iguma, three days after he was remanded in prison following a defamation allegation.
Scott was taken into custody last Thursday after publicly accusing real estate firm PWAN of defrauding customers by issuing fake land receipts. He reportedly submitted over 130 petitions from alleged victims to the EFCC, asserting that PWAN sold receipts instead of actual land.
Following his bold claims, PWAN’s founder, Augustine Onwumere, filed a defamation case, leading to Scott’s arrest and detention on Friday.
The incident stirred outrage online, with notable voices like Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and singer Kokopee criticizing both the police and PWAN over what they described as an abuse of power.
In a recent video update, Kokopee confirmed that Scott has now been granted bail, stating:
“After the court session, the judge approved Scott Iguma’s bail. His legal team is working hard to meet the bail conditions. Nigerians must not remain silent in the face of oppression. Injustice to one is injustice to all.
PWAN, if you’re truly innocent, show us your evidence.”
