The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several establishments, including churches, hotels, bars, and other businesses, for violating the state’s environmental regulations.

The enforcement operation, which targeted areas such as Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, is part of ongoing efforts to tackle noise pollution and other environmental breaches in Lagos.

This development was announced on Thursday through a statement on LASEPA’s verified X account.

According to the agency, the affected establishments were shut down for failing to meet environmental standards despite receiving prior warnings.

The statement read, “In a determined effort to address noise pollution and other environmental infractions, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed several businesses across the state.

“The enforcement operation in Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo highlights LASEPA’s dedication to promoting a healthier, more sustainable environment for all residents.

“The sealed premises include: Daily Bakery, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Centre & SPA, FS Service Centre, and Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall.”

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, LASEPA’s General Manager, reaffirmed the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations that endanger public health and disrupt community harmony.

“Environmental protection is a collective responsibility,” said Ajayi.

“As a government agency, we are committed to enforcing all necessary actions to ensure compliance with environmental laws. Noise pollution, improperly located hazardous facilities, and similar breaches have serious effects on public health and quality of life. We urge businesses and individuals to prioritize compliance and embrace sustainable practices.”

Ajayi also encouraged Lagos residents to report environmental infractions through LASEPA’s official channels, stressing the importance of joint efforts in safeguarding the environment.
