Step 1
Maintain a steady weight by eating a sensible balanced diet and exercising. Gaining and losing weight causes changes in the breasts. Gaining weight causes the breasts to enlarge, and the skin stretches. When you lose weight, the breast skin can look stretched and the breasts often appear empty and have a saggy appearance. One hour walks or 30 minutes of aerobics every other day helps to keep your metabolism up and your weight steady. Eating plenty of vegetables and whole grains and staying away from junk food also helps to keep your weight steady.
Step 2
Exercise to build pectoral muscles, which gives the appearance of firmer breasts. Good pectoral exercises to do are push-ups and chest presses.
Step 3
Pay attention to your posture. Poor posture causes breasts to droop. Good posture lifts the breasts up. Stand in front of the mirror topless. Look at your breasts while you stand with poor posture and again while you stand with good posture. Notice how much higher your breasts sit when you stand with good posture.
Proper posture occurs when your back is straight, your shoulders are back and your head is held straight, and this requires back strength. If you find it tiring to stand and sit with your back straight, take a Pilates class to build your back muscles.
Step 4
Ditch the bra, at least some of the time. There is no scientific evidence to support the claim that bras prevent breast sagging. In fact, a study conducted at Otsuma Women’s University in Tokyo, Japan, found that wearing bras actually increased breast sagging. In the study, 11 women were measured to determine their degree of breast sagging, and then instructed to wear bras for three months. The women were measured weekly throughout the 3-month study. Researchers found at the end of the study that all 11 women sagged more after wearing the bras for 3 months.
So, stick to only wearing bras on occasions when you want your breasts to look perky or when participating in active exercise where breast bouncing would be painful.
Step 5
Eat healthy and drink plenty of fluids to keep the connective tissue and skin healthy to help slow the signs of breast sagging. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables contains the antioxidants necessary for healthy skin, so e,at dark vegetables and colorful fruits which are higher in antioxidant content. Fluids hydrate the skin and connective tissue, so drink at least six 8 oz. glasses of water, green tea or 100-percent juice a day.
