Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced that all 38 individuals kidnapped during the attack on Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area, have been safely released.
The victims, abducted during last week’s assault on the church, regained their freedom on Sunday.
According to a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor said their release came after several days of coordinated work by security agencies and federal authorities.
He added that President Bola Tinubu ordered heightened security operations in light of the incidents in both Kwara and Kebbi states, which included deploying extra tactical units to Kwara.
Governor AbdulRazaq thanked the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police Force for their contributions to the rescue mission.
He also praised local leaders and residents for their cooperation throughout the incident.
Security operatives have not yet provided additional information regarding the rescue process or whether any suspects have been apprehended.
