Pastor William Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, has advised Nigerian Christians to prioritize feeding the poor and assisting the unemployed in their communities with their offerings rather than solely focusing on building churches. He emphasized the importance of allocating funds for charity and supporting those in need. Kumuyi highlighted the need for churches to adopt the practice of setting aside funds for charity as was done in the past, ensuring that resources are directed towards addressing hunger, malnutrition, and other pressing needs. He urged Christians to consider the immediate needs of individuals, including members of their church and others in their communities, over the construction of church buildings, emphasizing the imminent return of Christ. Additionally, former President Olusegun Obasanjo called for the decentralization of power and resources from the federal government to state and local levels to better manage available resources and alleviate economic hardship caused by mismanagement and lack of productivity.
