Coach Jurgen Klinsmann of the United State of America has announced his 30-man provisional squad for 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The team will still be trimmed to final 23-man squad before June 2.
The most notable omission is in North and Central America who has experienced a dip in form.
USA is drawn in Group G alongside Ghana, Portugal and Germany. Their campaign is schedule for kick-off on 16 June against Ghana. D.C. United forward Eddie Johnson, a regular in the United States’ qualifying campaign was the most notable omission in the squad.
The squad will start their training camp in Palo Alto, California in Stanford University.
Klinsmann said he’ll be looking hard at current form in making his final decisions as well as how players compete in training camp. “There is competition in every position, and these next couple of weeks will allow us to make the final determinations on the best 23-man unit to represent the United States in the World Cup”.
Before the commencement of the game in Brazil, the team will play three warm-up friendlies; against Azerbaijan on 27 May at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, Turkey on 1 June in Harrison, New Jersey and Nigeria in Jacksonville, Florida, on 7 June.
